Does artificial turf need to be brushed?
Occasional brushing helps lift fibers that flatten in paths, play areas, and around furniture. The frequency depends on traffic, pile height, infill, and the turf manufacturer’s care instructions.

Brushing is a presentation and performance task, not a daily chore. In a lightly used decorative lawn, it may be occasional. In a frequently used pet run, play area, or entertainment space, brushing can help redistribute infill and keep fibers from lying in one direction.
Use a tool recommended for the product—often a synthetic-bristle broom or power broom used correctly. Avoid aggressive metal rakes or tools that can damage the turf surface.
If the surface remains flat or uneven after routine care, ask for an inspection. The issue may relate to wear, infill, drainage, or base settlement rather than simply needing more brushing.
