What happens during a professional turf installation?
A professional install usually includes surface preparation, grading, a compacted base, turf layout, seam and edge work, infill or finishing, and a final cleanup. The exact sequence depends on the site and design.

The process typically begins with confirming the design and protecting nearby areas. Existing grass, roots, unstable material, or old landscape fabric are removed as needed. The crew then shapes the area so water will move appropriately and prepares a stable, permeable base.
After the base is compacted, the turf is laid out with the pile direction, seams, and cuts planned for the best finished view. Edges are secured to a suitable restraint system, then seams are joined and the surface is trimmed around features such as beds, drains, and hardscape.
The final stage may include infill, brushing, and a walkthrough. Ask your installer which materials are included, how seams are warranted, and how the team will protect existing irrigation, pavers, and landscaping while the work is underway.
