Putting Greens

What makes a good home putting green?

A good home putting green begins with a purpose: practice, family fun, or both. The design should match available space, intended ball roll, contours, cup placement, fringe, and drainage.

Putting greens are custom surfaces. A flat green can be ideal for repeatable short-putt practice, while gentle breaks and multiple cups make the space more interesting for guests. The right speed and contour plan depend on who will use it and how often.

The base must be stable and shaped accurately before the putting surface is installed. Drainage is important here too: a green should not become a low point that catches runoff from the rest of the yard.

LawnLogic can use the lawn designer and an on-site review to develop a putting green layout with realistic practice features, a surrounding fringe, and a finished look that fits the rest of the outdoor space.
